My brother and I both have an account on this site.

However, if I request a song, my brother can\'t until the song is over, just like me.

Is it because we\'re all sharing the same net connection?

Any ideas Armitage?

That would mean reinstating the 2 request per IP rule.

Yes, the request system uses your IP address to track the number of requests you\'ve made. People sharing an IP address or firewall will run into this problem. Any advice I could think of to circumvent this measure would be fodder for spammers to abuse the system. I hope you understand Frown

Feel better Tam?

They say the line between genius and insanity is incredibly thin. I have heard the line between ecstasy and despair is even thinner.

Wouldn\'t account ID be better to track with than IP? Dynamic IPs can change every few hours, which has been a pain in my butt in a few ways. Frown

A few hours is longer than it takes to cycle through 10 songs. Unless several people have requested a few long songs in a row, 18 min, 38 min, etc.

There are two problems with that. The first is that we allow non-registered listeners to make requests. I think this was put to a vote before and it was decided then that we would not restrict requests to only registered users. The second is that one IP address could sign up for multiple registered accounts (say using 10 different gmail addresses) and then they could bypass the request rules altogether. Granted someone with access to many machines or IP addresses could do the same, but it\'s less likely that the average listener on a home broadband connection would do this.

What it really comes down to is that we rely on the integrity of our members to abide by the rules and not circumvent them. The restrictions that are in place are there to benefit everyone.
