well, this is my first try at icecast (and streaming besides listening Mr. Green )
i got it working ... kind of ...

i did a simple relay of Armitage's stream to http://SunBla.de:8002/ArmiTunes.mp3.
the status page properly updates with meta data. and on demand works too (saving bandwith Smile ).

that is where i stand. now the questions:

icecast has a ton of shoutcast compatibility options. do i need anything of this?
can i do a master-server relay? if yes, how?
whats the best way to add aac+ stream?
what do i have to do to show up on the listen page?

Thanks for your interest in setting up a relay! At this time, we use Shoutcast DNAS for relays, not Icecast. The primary reason is to have the relays publish info into the SC yellowpage servers so people can find Armitunes when searching on their website and other radio station lists. In addition to that, we're still using an older version of SC DNAS which is no longer available for download on their website. If you are interested in setting up an SC relay, let me know and I can get the necessary binary to you.

Thanks!

k, i am not afraid of getting 3rd party software on my server Smile
i am only renting a Vserver so i can't do some fancy stuff like recompiling kernel.
as long as Shoutcast DNAS is compatible with Debian Testing, i'm in.

Here's the link to the the Shoutcast DNAS 1.9.8 version that we use for Linux:

http://download.nullsoft.com/shoutcast/tools/sc_serv_1.9.8_Linux.tar.gz

Let me know if you have any problems getting this up and running. When you set it up, just point it at the Armitage NJ relay IP address. Let me know if you need any other help with the config.

Thanks!

D'oh! Looks good now! You're 99% the way there. When you're ready, toggle the public setting on so your relay will show up on shoutcast.com and listeners will be directed there. I'll add your server to our "Listen" page as soon as soon as you send me the following relay info privately:

Name as you want it to appear
Location
sc_serv admin password (for polling listener stats)

Thanks for setting up the relay and welcome to the ArmiTunes family!!!
