Has anyone seen The Last Samurai? I thought it was the best movie ever. It comes out tomorrow, but I saw the premiere last saturday. It was really good. If you don't think it is going to be a good movie or because Tom Cruise is a samurai, see it anyways. He's actually very good for the part. I predict it will get at least 2 oscars.

Never knows best.

I was actually surprised they stuck with the subtitles throughout for the Japanese speaking part. It's refreshing to know that movies aren't afraid of having foreign dialog in them anymore. Tom Cruise was swinging swords around pretty convincingly too. Mr. Green

I want to see it for the Samurais. I like movies with Sword battles. It did strike me kinda odd that Tom Cruise was a Samurai, but I'm sure there is a good reason for it.

Everytime I think I'm out, They Pull me back in.

I saw it a couple of weeks ago, very nicely done. IMHO it's one of the best 3 films of the year, along with RotK and Pirates of the Carribean.

I think more people need to find this place, I don't want to revive topics from the dead Wink. I saw the movie last weekend, and all I have to say is wow. I loved it, was very interesting seeing how samurai act(Or how they made them act atleast). Tom cruise as a samurai doesn't make the movie any less, if anything it makes it better(you would have to see it).

I gotta say, that's practically why i didn't see it. White guy playing asian role? Mmmm, no thanks. But yeah, i probably would have to see it to be wrong. Not worth the $8.50 IMO.

I saw (and enjoyed) this movie in Japan, and was pleasantly surprised that they had English subtitles for the Japanese parts and Japanese subtitles for the English parts. My Japanese probably isn't good enough yet to do without the English subtitles, and it was amusing to read some of the Japanese translations of the English.

I wouldn't call it a "white guy playing an asian role." It's more like "a guy rediscovering himself by seeing through the eyes of a different culture". A lot like Dances With Wolves. That comparison has been made a lot about The Last Samurai.

When I first saw the movie trailer, I was skeptical about Tom Cruise playing a Samurai role too, but I was really caught by surprise when I saw it this past Friday. I absolutely loved the characters, the costumes, the story. You really have to watch it. It was worth every single penny, and I'd watch it again. Big Grin

GarbageCan:
It was uploaded last year! No excuses!
hazumu-kun:
meh cant expect people to be perfect ammos expensive they probibly could only afford one brick
GarbageCan:
And dammit, those bastards in that video I linked shot the same cinder block with the 7.62x39mm after they shot it with the 5.56x45mm...
hazumu-kun:
oh
GarbageCan:
I was talking about you owning more guns in the same cartridge.
hazumu-kun:
other than the dragonov... 1 gun in the WHOLE world only shoots 54r... doesnt seem very diverse. 40cal 7.62x39... all have LOADs of guns that shoot em
GarbageCan:
Depending on how you look at it...
GarbageCan:
Multiple guns in the same cartridge isn't really diverse.
hazumu-kun:
i wouldnt mind having another rifle chambered in 54r so i can have a diversity
GarbageCan:
I wouldn't care about it either! It's just an oversized AK made to look like a Dragunov. (And I haven't seen it either)
hazumu-kun:
ive never seen fight club
hazumu-kun:
i wasnt talking about the PSL. if you watched the video you would know the guy cared nothing about that rifle
GarbageCan:
Are you talking about Fight Club, Haz?
GarbageCan:
Phone books are formidable.
hazumu-kun:
but then i shot at a few cars on the highway and felt better
GarbageCan:
What? I don't find PSL's that interesting.
hazumu-kun:
i shot my greentip though a phone book and was midly dissapointed
hazumu-kun:
AH HA!
GarbageCan:
Somewhat.
GarbageCan:
Not really.
hazumu-kun:
NONE of it was intersting?
GarbageCan:
Wasn't very interesting, Haz.
GarbageCan:
Here's the M855 on cinder blocks. http://youtu.be/tbFZ5UCZdaw?t=1m50s
hazumu-kun:
you MAY like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Noo2HNj5vM
hazumu-kun:
here's the 7.62x51 http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=9-YeXzYEu1U#t=97s
hazumu-kun:
i woner if it would make your body flip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0gzWIGsV0E&feature=player_detailpage#t=77s
GarbageCan:
Now I wonder how well it performs on concrete...
GarbageCan:
That will be about the same as the 7.62x51mm.
hazumu-kun:
i call it the jack hammer because it love to say hello to things on the other side of concrete
hazumu-kun:
it has a straighter path though
GarbageCan:
Bottom one. About the same. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e9/RussianWP.jpg
hazumu-kun:
http://www.wideners.com/images/fulls/54r1.jpg
GarbageCan:
That'd better not be a euphemism...
GarbageCan:
Your jackhammer?
hazumu-kun:
how about my jackhammer?
GarbageCan:
There is where the 7.62x51mm performs; rapid expanding ammunition!
GarbageCan:
Moar? Ok. http://www.ar15.com/ammo/project/Misc_Images/DocGKR/308WPcomparison.jpg
Quiksilver:
moar
GarbageCan:
And 5.56 still has the largest permanent cavity.
GarbageCan:
It'd barely be yawing before it left me if it hit me straight in the abdomen.
hazumu-kun:
ech. i thought the 7.62 left the body with a big hole
GarbageCan:
Red. Blue is 5.45x39mm and green is 5.56x45mm.
hazumu-kun:
which color is which
GarbageCan:
A good display of the 7.62x51mm relatively poor terminal performance.
GarbageCan:
Check that shit out!
GarbageCan:
OH! YES! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v355/Jippo01/Guns/TBCombination.jpg
GarbageCan:
hazumu-kun:
but yea i learned my lession. always sleep with a radio on and point spikes at my door with a tripwire when i sleep
GarbageCan:
Welcome to AD, Eragondr. Watch out for Haz; he bites... Hard!
GarbageCan:
hazumu-kun:
it now kind of reminds me of the seagulls in finding nemo
hazumu-kun:
so im like um okay and she says they have a warrant im like okay and slide past the cop i said i have guns in there and they all start chanting GUN
hazumu-kun:
it was kind of amusing (it's 7am im alseep and woken up by police knocking on my door with my roommates staring at me.. im like what... they said they need to search your room
hazumu-kun:
they searched all of the rooms.. and i had it sitting on my bookshelf next to the door
GarbageCan:
Did they think he might be hiding in there?
hazumu-kun:
he was sleeping on the couch and was supposted to be rehabilitating at our house but it turns out he had a warrent and he went away
hazumu-kun:
it was a long time ago. they were looking for my old roommate's brother
GarbageCan:
I don't know how ammunition is regulated when it doesn't have an explosive charge or a penetrator. Even then I don't know it all for sure... Why were the cops searching your room?
hazumu-kun:
this one is 37mm but it looks like this but it's all white and black http://www.policeproducts.com/images/images_big/1162_DefTec.png
hazumu-kun:
i think it's a training round. the cops that searched my room were saying it was questionable.. now im starting to question it..
GarbageCan:
Like, training rounds that actually fire a projectile?
hazumu-kun:
is a 40mm inert grenade considered a DD?
hazumu-kun:
mrbenz:
Nope. I'm a polite person when you 'speak' with me and on formal occasion whether spoken or written. Since this is not formal and not spoken, I give no f-ing care about politeness...
hazumu-kun:
did you tell them to go ef themselves because they can't properly document important things?
spriggan_d:
yikes
mrbenz:
So I need to re-register again and go to their office again tomorrow. Thanks God I didn't take a day off for this.
mrbenz:
Since I need it for vacation, they told me to re-register and choose the 48 pages. The information about this is NOWHERE to be found on their websites.
mrbenz:
I need to make a passport. They have two choices, 24 pages or 48 pages. I don't I'm gonna go overseas often, so I choose 24 pages on their online registration. This morning, when I get there, they told me the 24 pages passport is for 'WORK' purpose only.
Ise Nanao:
@Benz....They snail at processing Ur Visa?
GarbageCan:
Oh? What are they doing now?
mrbenz:
morning... Really hate the Immigration office right now....
spriggan_d:
-shrugs- i'm good at that
GarbageCan:
It doesn't matter what traumatized her, only that she is traumatized.
